4 Steps to getting your sales funnel ready to sell

You heard about this thing called sales funnels. You have an idea of what it is, how to automatically sell your offers to an audience. Now the question is, how do you use it for your business? What steps do you need to take? What do you need to know? Let’s make it easy and divide it into 4 steps.

Step 1 – know your audience

Everything in business starts with knowing your audience. Who are they, where are they, and what do they need? Your sales funnel also starts with this same question. Who are they and what problem are you here to solve for them? Know who they are better than they know themselves.

Step 2 – know your offers

Once you know your audience and the problems that keep them up at night, you can either combine offers you already have or create a new offer. Since you know them better than they know themselves, you know what it is they need. But more importantly, you know what they THINK they need. Combining what they think they need or want, with what you KNOW they actually need makes sure one – they buy your offer, and two – they get the results you promise.

Step 3 – know your tools

Okay, you know what to offer, now how does it actually come together? I personally like to create everything on my own website, which includes sales funnels. On WordPress, it’s easy to add all the things you need to set it up, sell your products and measure performance. You can choose to go with a different tool, either because you already have it or you read somewhere that tool is the best. Be aware, these marketing tools are most often created by marketers. They KNOW how to sell you something, how to sell their product, better than how the technique actually works for you. Before you decide, read this blog I wrote about your hosting options, or make a list of what it is you think you need to have and what you already do have. After you have this list and know the price tags that go with it, make your choice.

Step 4 – create!

You know who you are selling to, you know what you are selling and you chose your tools. Now, the implementation! Start writing your copy, get your branding in place if you don’t have it already and start to set up your funnel. You can do all these things yourself, but you can outsource each of these pieces to a specialist. Find a copywriter specialised in sales pages, a branding specialist who knows what esthetics work for your audience, and/or a tech person like me to make your funnel work the way you want it to. If you know you are not as good as you’d like in some of these things, try and outsource it. It will make sure you don’t procrastinate and will make sure your funnel is the best it can be.
