How to plan your website as an online coach
Online entrepreneurs know that there is a lot to think about when it comes to their websites. Luckily, I have created this blog post with tips and tricks for you to think about when planning your website.
What is your website’s purpose?
Your number one question should be, what is the goal of having a website? Well, as you ended up on my page, I assume you are an online coach or service provider. Your goal is most likely to
1. show others what you have to offer,
2. why you are different from anyone else offering that same service,
and 3. how they can work with you.
A fourth purpose could be is to show you know your stuff. Online, we do that with a blog or a portfolio.
Who is your target audience and what do they want?
Next, who are you talking to? Like you may have often heard by now, if you talk to everyone, you are talking to no one. It’s important that your ideal client recognizes themself in your copy. Your target audience can also have a role in the colors you pick. If your audience is mostly male, you might want to steer clear of pink.
What do you want to accomplish with this website?
Is your main focus to capture leads for your list? Is it to sell your products in a passive way? Is it to really showcase what you can do and show your portfolio? Do you want to start with ads and lead cold traffic here, or people who already know you and want more from you? Or simply to answer frequently asked questions you are sick and tired of answering?
It can definitely be a combination of multiple things, which would result in pages focused on different goals and maybe even audiences.
Create a plan for the website’s design and content
Once you know the basics (your websites main goal and your target audience) you can start thinking about your design and content. Your design should be attractive to your ideal client (as I said, males probably won’t like a lot of pinks), but in my opinion, you should like it too. Look on Pinterest and maybe even some competiters websites to get inspiration on what you like and don’t like. Collect this info an maybe even make a brand board.
Your content should definitely speak to your ideal audience or it will not work. If you are aiming for more advanced coaches who make €50.000 a month, don’t talk like they are in the beginning stages and start ‘mansplaining’. Meet them where they are at. Show you get their current problems and show you are the one who can solve that particular problem they are having at their level.
Now, start creating the actual website!
Now you have all your basics, you can start making your website a reality. You can work at this yourself if you are good with tech or think you can use these skills you’ll learn later on when you want to build more websites. Or, if you want to focus on your main business activities, you can hire someone like me to do it for you.
With all the info you just gathered, you will receive a design specially made for you and your wishes. All the work will be tailored to your unique situation so no templates will be used. Then, in 1 day, I will be building your website with you as you give me feedback about design throughout the day. This way, at the end of the day it’s exactly what you were thinking of and live!
Book a call with me to chat about any questions you might still have or to know if we click. Or, if you simply know this is how you want to go forward, book your website in a day spot here.
